دعا تنظيم القاعدة في بلاد الرافدين المعروف باسم دولة العراق الإسلامية الرئيس الأمريكي الجديد باراك أوباما إلى "الدخول في الإسلام وعبادة الله وحده". وأشار التنظيم في رسالة بثتها مؤسسة الفرقان إن "الدولة النصرانية هي اقرب الأمم للمسلمين" وبينت الرسالة التي ألقاها أمير دولة العراق الإسلامية ابو عمر البغدادي ان "لحرب الظالمة على ديار الإسلام كانت السبب الرئيسي في انهيار المارد الاقتصادي الأمريكي»، موضحة ان "من الأفضل عودة الجنود الأمريكيين إلى منازلهم". وتابعت الرسالة: "إننا امة بدأت تستعيد عزها واستفاقت من كبوتها ونفضت غبار الذل عنها، وبدأ مارد الجهاد يزأر في كل مكان، فمهما أوتيتم من مكر وكيد فلن يجدي نفعا لأننا عدنا إلى ربنا وأصلحنا ما فسد من أحوالنا". ورغم الخطاب الهادئ الذي اتسمت به الرسالة إلا أنها اشتملت على بعض العبارات التهديدية: "لا يغرنكم كثرة عددكم وتطور عدتكم.. اقرأوا التاريخ جيدا وما أظنكم نسيتم معارك الماضي والحاضر فبضع مئات منا يقهرون عشرات الآلاف منكم". وتعد هذه الرسالة أول رد فعل لتنظيم القاعدة بعد نجاح باراك أوباما في انتخابات الرئاسة الأمريكية
